Amnesty International Group 142 is part of Amnesty Canada. We promote human rights through letter writing campaigns, petitions, and human rights forums and by working with the larger human rights community. We participate in rights actions related to issues in countries throughout the world, organize information evenings including video presentations, and participate in rallies organized by Amnesty Toronto and other human rights organizations. 

Group 142 is active in the Caribbean Regional Action Network. By concentrating on one region of the world  we are able to develop expertise about human rights issues in that region and are ready to respond to human rights emergencies as they arise. 

We organize letter writing activities at First Unitarian on the fourth Sunday of each month at 11:30 AM immediately after worship services and also at our meetings at 7:30 PM on the third Wednesday of each month. At our annual holiday season celebration in December we send greeting cards to prisoners of conscience and human rights defenders. We also participate in the annual Write for Rights campaign around International Human Rights Day on December 10th.
