Unitarian Congregation of Toronto seeks applicants for a dynamic
full-time position of Director of Lifespan Religious Education. The
Director of Lifespan Religious Education oversees an integrated
religious education program to meet the needs of all ages and stages
of religious development, from childhood through and including
adulthood. Major duties include program development and
administration, volunteer engagement, leadership development, and
liaison within the church community to facilitate programs. This 35
hour per week job requires Sunday morning attendance; being
available to members; keeping regular office hours; and ensuring
that any children who participate are safe and their needs
understood.
This position calls for a person with a University degree or
equivalent experience, MRE or DRE trained. We expect that you have
the ability to inspire others, set priorities in a multi-faceted
environment, and to motivate and lead within a volunteer environment
and a diverse community. You will have experience working with and
recruiting volunteers, and experience with managing group dynamics.
The ability to communicate and interact effectively with diverse age
groups and mediate conflict is also required. You will have a
knowledge of and commitment to UU principles and curricula, and an
ability to evaluate programs and curriculum. You are skilled at
program administration, record keeping, budgeting and time
management. You also have the ability to take initiative; to work
creatively both independently and within a team, and to support and
model a team based working environment.
Salary as per UUA fair compensation guidelines for mid-sized
congregation and includes vacation, study time and an expense
allowance.
