What is Time
“Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent." ” ~ Carl Sandburg, Poet
Since 2000, members and friends of Toronto First have been participating in World Accord’s Construction Expeditions to Honduras and Guatemala. Over 60 people have volunteered two weeks of their lives to work with other Canadians and local people in the mountains of Honduras and Guatemala to build schools, training and community centres, and houses. This first-hand experience has also built understanding between people and helped improve the social, economic and living conditions in these developing countries. Participants have found these trips so rewarding that many have volunteered more than once.
Our members have found these trips moving personal experiences and World Accord a knowledgeable and reliable provider and recommend them to anyone with a willing heart and two weeks to invest in making a better world.

Central America Development Trips 2020 - The Trip of a Lifetime!
The campesino (peasant) farmers of west-central Honduras have been working hard to improve life for their families. They have adopted improved heath, nutritional and agricultural practices and upgraded their literacy. This year, the communities have again asked for help to build schools to help them achieve their dreams.

World Accord has invited members and friends of First Unitarian to join them again in 2020. It will be an experience you will long remember – one that will open your heart to a different way of looking at the world. The trips are open to all people who would like to make a real difference in the world and in the lives of poor, but hard-working people. Construction skills and Spanish are not required but are very welcome. To date over 500 people have taken up the challenge.
World Accord is a charitable, non-profit organization dedicated to “Cultivating Communities that Thrive”. Working through local partners in countries around the world, World Accord connects Canadians and Canadian funding organizations with grassroots community groups striving to improve their own health, education, and livelihood. World Accord has been sponsoring volunteer Construction Expeditions in Central America since 1995.
