A Magical Effect
“Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish.” ~ John Quincy Adams
Central America Community Development: In Partnership with World Accord
Toronto First has sponsored development projects in Central America since 1997. In 1999 we formed a partnership with World Accord, to make these volunteer construction trips available to all Canadians.
To date over 500 people have had rewarding first-hand experience working with local people in the mountains of Honduras and Guatemala to build schools, training and community centres, and houses. At the same time we build understanding between people and help improve the social, economic and living conditions in these developing countries.
Central America Development Trips 2018 - The Trip of a Lifetime!
This year we will be collaborating with the campesino (peasant) farmers of west-central Honduras who have been working hard to improve life for their families. They have adopted improved heath, nutritional and agricultural practices and upgraded their literacy. This year, the communities we will be working with have asked for our help to build schools to help them achieve their dreams.
We invite you to join us for one of these upcoming trips. It will be an experience you will long remember – one that will open your heart to a different way of looking at the world. The two-week trips are open to all people who would like to make a real difference in the world and in the lives of poor, but hard working people. Construction skills and Spanish are not required but are very welcome.
