Congregational Conversation on Rebuilding or Relocating

At our last meeting, members told us what their ideal church building would look like. We also have lots of ideas from the focus groups. Now we need to set priorities. Come and tell us what features matter the most to you and your family. What do we really need?

Lunch will be available at 12:15 (at cost) and the meeting starts at 12:30.

For the children, we are providing child-care, lunch, and entertainment (Mad Science, back by popular demand!).

Climate Reality Presentation

An update on the state of the climate and solutions to climate change.

Over the last few years, there has been an increasing number of extreme weather events, such as Hurricane Sandy. The Climate Reality Project presentation, which has evolved from Al Gore's award winning documentary, "An Inconvenient Truth", will explore what is happening around the world, why it's happening and, most importantly, what we can do about it.

Presenter: David Faltenhine was recently trained, in California, by Al Gore and the Climate Reality Project team.

Shaw Hall. Hosted by the Green Team.

Ladies-in-Waiting

After years of development and its debut at Toronto Fringe Festival last summer, Ladies-in-Waiting is coming as a fundraiser for First Unitarian.

Seduction, betrayal, beheadings... the wives of King Henry VIII have a few things they'd like to set straight!

Ladies-in-Waiting is a play that brings together several generations of women to explore aging, power, regrets, hindsight, and the pain of unrequited love. As Henry VIII lies dying, his six wives convene to throw his welcome to the afterlife party. This play will stimulate your brain, tug at your heartstrings, and give you something interesting to talk about!

Co-written and directed by Toronto First's very own Kate Kudelka, (NOW Magazine's "emerging artist to watch").

Patch & Paint

New Signs Coming Our Way

If you’ve been looking for an opportunity to help out, meet some great people, and are interested in leaving your mark on First, then join us this Sunday, August 18th for an hour or two to help get First ready for new signs: taking down the current signs, patching the doors and walls, and applying a fresh coat of paint.

We’ll be working in teams, so no experience is required.

There will even be a little lunch break!

We'll meet at the welcome table and then head to Shaw Hall. See you there!
