Blessing for the Raising of Our Pride Flag - June 24, 2012

This Blessing for the Raising of Our Pride Flag was read on June 24, 2012 to the congregation assembled in front of our building. (See photo below.)

The rainbow was the symbol used in the Book of Genesis, to signify a renewal of love and hope after a time of great challenge and despair.

The rainbow flag has become the symbol of love and hope, not just for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community that we celebrate today, but for all who experience the challenges and despair of the discriminations of society. It's a symbol of diversity, welcoming and inclusion of ALL people.

This flag, now raised on our building can be seen by any and all who seek the embrace of a loving community.

May it be a shining beacon of hope to all, and a reminder to each of us of our covenant to live as a truly Welcoming Congregation.

As we dedicate this flag, let us rededicate ourselves to our commitments to build up the beloved community within our walls and in the wider world.
