Issues & Ideas: Healing
Our open discussion circle will meet in the Library, with reports on two books.
Jack Dodds will present My People, Myself by Mary Lawrence (an autobiography of a woman born on the Okanagan Indian Reserve in 1950, sent to a residential school at age 8, who experienced many years of drug and alcohol addiction until finally straightening out her life in 1986. It's appropriate to the theme of healing and also to the current emphasis on reconciliation with our indigenous peoples.
Ahmed Elham will present The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. (Ahmed is a refugee from Afghanistan who is currently living in Toronto.)
You need not have read the books but you are invited to come and join the discussion in the Library on Sunday after the coffee hour.
