Issues & Ideas: Interdependence

Date: Sunday, March 04, 2018 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

The congregational theme for February was “Interdependence”.

Please join us in the Library after coffee hour for two book reports with special relevance to Black History month and to Black Canadian experience.

Bill Belfontaine presents Scarborough: a Novel by Catherine Hernandez - (Bill has been a member of the Scarborough community council and brings us a remarkable novel that follows the lives of three children from diverse backgrounds who inhabit Toronto’s low-income east end) - and Beth Guthrie presents The refugee : the narratives of fugitive slaves in Canada by Benjamin Drew - (originally published in 1856, this book is the only collection of first-hand interviews of fugitive slaves in Canada, and thus an invaluable record of early black Canadian experience.)
