Global Climate Action Mass Strike
Members of First Unitarian will be marching in the mass strike Friday Sept 27 (we’ll be meeting at 11:00 at the West Portico of the Legislative Assembly in Queen’s Park). Unitarian-Universalists across the country will be participating in their local communities as well.
We are in the midst of a crisis. The climate is rapidly, and in many ways irreversibly changing. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change tells us we have fewer than 12 years to make drastic changes to how we operate in order to avoid the worst effects of global warming. Our Unitarian-Universalist principles urge us to act - to respect life; to value justice, equity, and peace; and to uphold the right of conscience and democracy. Please join us during this week of Global Climate Action.
There will be many other events happening during the week - please visit climatechallenge.ca and click on “climate week” (make sure to look at both the week of September 16-22 and 23-29 to get all the details) for a complete listing.
