“Hope Against Hope”
Sermon by Rev. Shawn Newton.
"When hope is hard to find. . ." Those words from the chorus of the hymn "Come, Sing a Song with Me" speak to the challenge many of us face on a daily basis, but perhaps most especially during the darkening days of December. In this season seemingly filled with "hope" at every turn, hope can be pretty hard to come by. Despite the twinkling lights and blazing candles all around the city, genuine hope can prove elusive. It's worth asking, then, what kind of hope we're hoping for. On Sunday, we'll explore this question, as we celebrate the final day of Chanukah.
We will also, in a brief ceremony, install our two new Lay Pastors, a role created by the Board of Trustees, with input from the Convenors and Committee on Ministry, to assist me in better managing the pastoral and spiritual needs of our growing congregation.
See you on Sunday.
