Sunday, February 20-27  The Social Justice Committee will be implementing a Freedom to Read Week in
February to encourage members and friends of First to support openly our democratic freedom--the
choice of what we read. Year 2011 is the 26th anniversary of the battle against banning, censorship,
government cover-up and secrecy at any level. On February 6: A special after-service presentation from
the Book and Periodical Council will occur and some "challenged books" will be displayed. Contact Bill

February 20, 12:15 pm: Presentation by Doug Buck on The Shepherd’s Granddaughter by Anne Laurel Carter, a book about a young Palestinian girl, Amani, who wants to become a shepherd, following in her grandfather’s steps. As years pass, she learns about wolves, a veterinarian, and most seriously, encroaching Israeli settlements that eventually end the family’s farming life.

The Jewish Awareness Group presents a truly memorable movie - A Precious Life.  Originally shown at the Toronto International Film Festival, it is a true story about a Palestinian Family whose baby is dying and their interactions with Israelis as they searcch to save him.

dance experience necessary. Newcomers are always welcome.  Sacred Circle Dance will resume on the
