Healthy Congregation Information

12:15 to 1 pm in Shaw Hall

The Healthy Congregations Task Force is working on creating a framework for a team to handle conflict resolution at First, hold educational sessions, work with the congregation on creating a covenant, and help foster healthy approaches to diverse opinions. As a result of forming a Healthy Congregations Team, we envision that in the future we will be collectively less afraid of conflict, but more importantly have the mechanisms and skills to handle divergent views more constructively and with a loving attitude. We welcome your feedback and input, as the congregation prepares to launch this new initiative.

Canadian Unitarians for Social Justice Toronto First Chapter

Come to the Boardroom to discover what your fellow UU's are up to on the social (and eco-) justice scene these days.

Share conversations about issues that need questioning, structures that need challenging, relationships that need building and work that needs doing together. Together, we can create what the 6th U.U. principle calls a 'world community with peace, freedom, and justice for all'. Think globally. Act locally. Another world is possible.

Cakes for the Queen Of Heaven (Wed. 17 Oct, 2012 6:45 pm - 10:30 pm)

Cakes for the Queen of Heaven: In Ancient Times - Part I

Wednesdays – Oct 10, Oct 17, Oct 24, Nov 7, Nov 14, Nov 21, 2012 - 6:45–9:30 pm.

Cakes for the Queen of Heaven is a woman-honouring course that’s not just about history and archaeology; it’s also about women’s issues in a patriarchal society, and women’s spiritual heritage. “Cakes” was developed as part of the Unitarian Universalist (UU) adult religious education program. Come and participate in this joyful and educational workshop series where you will be invited to share your own experiences and beliefs. Together we’ll create sacred space and work to change our stories.

By popular request, this year we welcome men, as well as women. There is much that we, not just as men but as whole evolving people, can re-examine, re-learn and realize through the Cakes for the Queen of Heaven program. How might our perspectives on life, history and the divine be enriched by exploring these teachings? Imagine how life would have been different for our fathers and grandfathers if they had known the ways of the mothers and grandmothers.

Fee: $30. Sliding scale. Nobody will miss this due to financial barriers. We encourage those who are able to donate a little more.

Facilitators: Ryan Cvirik & Debbie Kirkland
