Issues & Ideas – Books That Changed My Life (Sun. 2 Dec, 2012 12:15 pm - 1:30 pm)

THE HISTORIC JESUS: Peter Hughes reviews Did Jesus Exist? by Bart Ehrman, and Eleanor Johnston reviews The Meaning of Mary Magdalene: Discovering the Woman at the Heart of Christianity by Cynthia Bourgeault.

We meet in the library, usually on the first Sunday of the month, 12:15-1:30 pm (unless otherwise indicated) when two congregation members present reviews of recently accessioned books followed by an open discussion.

Congregational Conversation on Rebuilding or Relocating (Sun. 2 Dec, 2012 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm)

At our last meeting, members told us what their ideal church building would look like. We also have lots of ideas from the focus groups. Now we need to set priorities. Come and tell us what features matter the most to you and your family. What do we really need?

Lunch will be available at 12:15 (at cost) and the meeting starts at 12:30.

For the children, we are providing child-care, lunch, and entertainment (Mad Science, back by popular demand!).

Soul to Soul (Tue. 4 Dec, 2012 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm)

"Soul to Soul" offers opportunities to practice the spiritual discipline of listening, while exploring life issues with a group of 7-9 others, discussing significant stories, compassion, boundaries and trust.

Four Tuesday evenings 7pm-9pm, October 23rd, November 6th, November 20th and December 4th. You need not take the series in sequential order.

Sessions are led by our Director of Lifespan Religious Education, Angela Klassen. Check out the session guide which is available in the bookshop in Workman Hall.

French conversation classes take place every Friday at 1-3 pm in the Board Room at First, where we read and discuss articles from the magazine L'Actualité as well as engage in conversation "du coq à l'âne".

Memorial Service for Mary Martin (Sat. 8 Dec, 2012 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm)

Mary Martin was a long-time member of our congregation and a veteran for the second world war. She died on November 10 at the age of 89.
