Good for Something (Sun. 23 Feb, 2014 10:30 am - 11:30 am)

Sermon by Rev. Shawn Newton.

“Be not simply good,” Unitarian Henry David Thoreau said, “be good for something.” This Sunday, I’ll be exploring not only what that something is for us as individuals, but inviting us to consider what it might be for us as a congregation, as well. Just imagine what we could accomplish if we were to harness our collective passion and put it in service to the greater good.

See you on Sunday!

In faith and love,
Shawn

Creative Writing Exploration (Thu. 27 Feb, 2014 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm)

Toronto First Unitarian, 175 St. Clair Ave E (SW corner St. Clair & Avenue Road)

Resolve to engage your creative self in the new year. We give you the openings then you are free to explore in story, poetry, stream of consciousness, haiku... wherever your creativity roams. NO JUDGEMENTS ALLOWED! All you need is a notebook and a pen and permission to leave fear and doubt behind.

We’ve expanded the program so you can also stretch your creative muscles and develop a longer work of writing over the 6 weeks. Those already working on a project can choose to bring that in. Those without a previous project will have the opportunity to build an intentional piece with guidance from the facilitators. You are welcome to bring a laptop for this part of the session — battery charged please.

Find your voice, nurture your muse, and (re)connect with your creative self.

$30 for 6 sessions: Thursdays Jan 23, 30, Feb 6, 13, 20, 27.
