Halfway There (Sun. 1 Feb, 2015 10:30 am - 11:30 am)

Sermon by Curtis Murphy, Intern Minister.

It is nearly a new month, and with it, a new theme. This February we will be asking ourselves: what does it mean to seek a life of evolution?

If we hear anything about evolution in our day-to-day lives, it likely has something to do with the legacy of Charles Darwin, or with the public showdown between "evolutionists" and "creationists." But this is the tip of the iceberg.

In a broader sense, evolution refers to any ongoing process of growth and change, not only biological and geological, but personal and social, outward and internal.

Also, if evolution is a journey, it is not only defined by beginning and end; it is primarily a matter of what happens in-between. This Sunday marks the halfway point between winter solstice and spring equinox - we're getting there! - and we will use the occasion to reflect on what it means to be "halfway there."

Yours on the journey,
Curtis

Womynspirit: Becoming Women of Wisdom (Wed. 4 Feb, 2015 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm)

Becoming Women of Wisdom is a program in 13 circles running Wednesday nights from February 4 to April 29 designed to enable groups of women to explore and deepen their experience of themselves as wise older women and claim their power. The curriculum includes poetry, story, art, music, song and dance to help women connect to the profound meaning of this life passage. It concludes with a joyous ceremony as participants celebrate their new status and name themselves queen, crone, elder, or grandmother.

This program is designed for women who are perimenopausal, are entering or have passed through menopause. Women of all cultural backgrounds, faiths and levels of knowledge/experience are warmly welcomed. Those who have already been croned may still enjoy this program and it would be great to have you join us.
