Sermon by Rev. Shawn Newton.
Though I’m away from the day-to-day life of the congregation, I look forward to returning this Sunday morning to share in our annual “All Kinds of Love” Sunday. Though Valentine’s is often thought of as a day to celebrate romantic love, we mark the Sunday closest to Valentine’s by celebrate all kinds of love. As this service falls in our Change series this winter, we’ll be looking at love through the prism of change.
Sunday’s service will be a marvelous mix of moving music and powerful poems that speak to the love found (and lost) in many different types of relationships. The poetry will range from Naomi Shihab Nye to Ellen Bass to Derek Walcott. And the music, and there will be lots of it(!), will be presented by Dallas, Adam, and our Resident Musicians, who have been asked to share some of their favourite songs on the topic of love. It will be a great feast of music!
In faith and love,
